News about the R31 modem and new mailing list for R31
Monday, February 3, 2003

The internal modem of the R31 has gotten a driver! Who would have though that? See it here. Also, I created a mailing list so that news get recognised. Join here! Update: The mailing-list was broken. It should work not (at least I hope so).

"Mirror" section created
Wednesday, January 1, 2003

Happy New Year!
I had some tools lying around which are really hard to get lately so I thought I mirror them. bbtools works also great with vobcopy to extract audio or video tracks from video files.

"My hardware" section created
Saturday, December 7, 2002

I had already written something about some of my personal hardware and now I even link to that from here. Take a look left, second from bottom. Not much yer but if you are about to buy a thinkpad R31 you better take a look.

Lotsa new links in the tools section (and adjacent sections)
Monday, November 4, 2002

OK, I did it and inserted all the links I gathered in the last 6 months or so into the appropriate link section in the tools page.

New vobcopy release
Saturday, November 2, 2002

A new release of vobcopy is out, 0.5.5. It would have been only a special release for solaris but I also found a bug with -f. Therefore it is now a release for everyone ;-)

Server down
Monday, September 23, 2002

Due to some misunderstanding (we are still figuring it out) the server (apache) went down. Please excuse!

New release of vobcopy
Sunday, September 22, 2002

OK, a new release of vobcopy. An interim release since it concernes FreeBSD. Now the features should be similar under FreeBSD and GNU/Linux. Download is here

Moved downloads to this server
Tuesday, September 10, 2002

At last I managed to move the download of all formats of vobcopy to this server. There is also a minimal fix. See here

Added some links again
Tuesday, July 30, 2002

Found some nice links concerning arch (which I didn't include before) and also some thing regarding valgrind. It's in the tools section

CVS-Root moved to my server
Saturday, July 20, 2002

Since yesterday evening Surceforge's cvs was down a long time and since I wanted to move the cvs anyway I did it and it worked really well. There is even viewcvs ready for you: take a look here. No cvs checkout yet for anonymous but you can download a tarball. I'll fix the cvs checkout "real soon now" ;-) -Robos

Mailing-Lists available for lpn and vobcopy
Friday, July 19, 2002

Finally managed to get mailman running on the server (with the help of a friend) so that there are now two mailing-lists available. Linux-programming-newbie (lpn) has a list for - well, linux programming newbies. Post your questions to lpn@rnbhq.org and pray ;-) I will see what I can do. If some experienced programmers could join, that would be great! (Remember, me newbie myself)
There is also a list for vobcopy where new things get announced and maybe patches provided (by you hopefully). Both lists should be rather low volume...
The lists are here: http://rnbhq.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo -Robos

New release of vobcopy: 0.5.2
Friday, July 19, 2002

There is a new release of vobcopy and now the bug is gone. Not much changes beside the bugfix, the next big change will take some time. Sorry for the bug -Robos

**IMPORTANT: don't use vobcopy-0.5.1!!**
Friday, July 19, 2002

There is a larger bug in the mirror code of vobcopy that lets it copy only the first part of a title over and over again. Don't use vobcopy-0.5.1 (and 0.5.0 for that matter) for mirroring. There will be a new release in roughly 12 hours. Sorry for that -Robos

New release: vobcopy-0.5.1
Tuesday, July 16, 2002

Since the last release was hurried a little now a correction release - 0.5.1.
Main page of vobcopy Robos

MARVELOUS NEWS: VOBCOPY IS IN DEBIAN SID!
Monday, July 15, 2002

YES! That's really cool (because I favor debian myself). Get the package here or go to the main page of vobcopy to see the link for sources.list integration.
BTW, works on woody ("testing", very close to stable) too!
First, mandrake, now debian and then the WHOLE WORLD! MUAHAHAHA .... - ups, got carried away there ;-) Robos

Vobcopy-0.5.0 wasn't that kosher...
Monday, July 15, 2002

The vobcopy-0.5.0 release was made a little too fast, resulting in some cosmetic defects: When you mirror a dvd (-m) the console gets spammed with progression bar messages. Also, some of my debug code is still in there and gets output and might confuse the user.
Therefore, very shortly there will be a new release. Sorry for that -Robos

New release: vobcopy-0.5.0
Saturday, July 13, 2002

A new release of vobcopy. This release has some new code to mirror a dvd to harddrive. -Robos

Added links and again html changes
Thursday, June 27, 2002

I added some links I had gathered over time. I wanted to look through them and rate them before posting but that takes too long. Oh, and some html work again ;-) -Robos

HTML code cleanup
Tuesday, June 11, 2002

Html code overhaul again to keep weblint quiet. It *should* now render ok in netscape 4.x, mozilla and ie (kinda tested) -Robos

HTML: frames -> tables
Sunday, June 9, 2002

Html code overhaul and moved to our own server -Robos

dvdripping4linux
Sunday, May 1, 2002

Moritz Bunkus made a howto "dvdripping4linux" in which he also features vobcopy. Had to link to him then, no? -Robos

New release of vobcopy - 0.4.3
Monday, March 25, 2002

A new release of vobcopy. An interim release that is. Only now vobcopy should compile and work on FreeBSD (other *BSD's anyone?) -Robos

24.3.2002: I'm looking into some mpeg2 docs at the moment, therefore so few news here. But, I did something at vobcopy again. You can now change the output-file's name and even write to stdout! -Robos
26.2.2002: Thanks to Goetz Waschk there is now a src.rpm package of vobcopy-0.4.1 available. He made it for mandrake, dunno if this works for other rpm based distros (suse, redhat,...) -Robos
19.2.2002: The next release of vobcopy. There was an error and I had something to add anyhow. Take a look. Robos
15.2.2002: Hmm, not what I intended in the first place, but nevertheless a new release of vobcopy. Take a look! -Robos
22.1.2002: Okay. The next release of vobcopy is ready to be tested. Easier normal handling and more options. -Robos
10.1.2002: I'm still working on vobcopy but in the meantime I compiled a list of useful emacs commands (doesn't intent to be complete) -Robos
5.1.2002: Release of vobcopy-0.2.0.Vobcopy now has the -o option to specify destination directory and the -n title-number option -Robos
1.1.2002: Release of vobcopy-0.1.1. Added a Makefile for simpler build and install of vobcopy -Robos
1.1.2002: Happy New Year! Vobcopy seems to be ok, 30 downloads till today. So I can get some other things done. Give some meat to my xemacs part for example -Robos
16.12.2001: vobcopy-0.1.0 is ready and has some nice features (imho)
8.12.2001: I started a new c-project: vobcopy (copying dvd .vob files to harddisk). Take a look -Robos
4.12.2001: OK, this site is now also reachable via linux-programming-newbie.org -Robos
29.11.2001: Added a list of items I think need to be covered in time over in the tools section -Robos
23.11.2001: Ok, 3 days ago I wrote something into the forum, in order to attract people to at least say something there. But - nope, nothing, nichts. Weeell, maybe the ppl don't find it since it's on the project page! (I hope for you that this is your problem) So, now I'm gonna install a link to the left panel, that should fix it! -Robos
19.11.2001: Wrote something about SourceNavigator, over in the tools section -Robos
18.11.2001, late at night: Since I'm here and I quite recently read something about gcc I opened the gcc-section -Robos
18.11.2001, a little later: Ah, I forgot: NEW LAYOUT! The old one was so shabby that today I decided to change it (btw: bluefish is quite good) -Robos
18.11.2001: Still not dead, but only creeping along. I've dived into OpenGL programming with a certain project in mind that I will get here as soon as there is something to show someone, right along the lines: publish early, publish often (unknown author).
Nils is happily hacking along right beside me at a project he started called Efisto, which also exists here at sourceforge. Take a look, might be of interest. -Robos
29.10.2001: Well, this site hasn't been abandoned yet, but I didn't get any feedback whatsoever. So, if you found this page and like the general idea, send me a mail to: robos@users.sf.net
Otherwise, I have learned quite a lot in the last months which I will put up here Really_soon(TM)
29.3.2001: Wrote a review of "the C-programming-language"../../ by Kernighan & Ritchie over in the books section -Robos
28.3.2001: Yep, wrote something more. Take a look at tools, there I wrote something about how to handle (X)emacs. -Robos
12.3.2001: My friend Nils joins me in bringing this site to life. Hi Nils ;-)
11.3.2001: The site comes to life after Sourceforce granted me this nice spot here :-) Thanx a lot!
